Kozarek, Joanne JoAnne Elizabeth Coby-Kozarek (Smith) passed away on Saturday September 15, 2018 at the age of 76. She was born March 28, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis R. and Elizabeth M. (Bassette) Smith, her brother Tom, special grandson Tommy and by her husband Dennis just three months ago. She is survived by her daughter Dawn, son Brian, three step children; Jennifer, David and Dennis and a number of step grandchildren; two special friends, Jewels and Nan and her cat Henry. She graduated from Onsted High School and Ferris Institute in 1963 and again in 1997 from Ferris State University. She was an extremely accomplished seamstress who was instrumental in founding the Grand Rapids West Michigan Chapter of the American Sewing Guild whose members were very close to her heart. Before taking ill, she enjoyed traveling with Dennis and spending time with him at their cottage on Tubbs Lake. She also enjoyed Friday night dinners "with the girls". At her request cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at Fountain Street Church on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fountain Street Church or the Kent County Animal Shelter.
