Survivors are devoted wife of 41 years, Elaine A. (nee Schmidt) Bass of I.O.F.S.; one daughter, Deborah A. (Frank Palmer) Bass of Merrillville; four sons, Richard A. (Melinda) Bass of South Haven, John P. (Kelly) Bas of Centerville, Ohio, Thomas M. (Kathy) Bass of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Michael W. (Melissa) Bass of Muncie, Ind.; 11 adoring grandchildren: Erick, Gabrielle, Dominique, Franchesca, Rachel, Samantha, Katie Madison, Amanda, Tommy and Aliza. Funeral services Saturday, October 30, 1999, 10 a.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, (corner of 101st & Broadway), Merrillville Crown Point Chapel, Rev. Lorin L. Clemenz officiating. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. Rick was a little league manager for the Hessville Indians in Hessville for 15 years. He was retired from Acme Steel Company, Inc., in Riverdale, Ill., after 30 years of service.
