- BIOGRAPHY: Ronald Bassett (great-nephew of Ellen) was told by the son of Austin BASSETT, brother of Guy, that
Ellen died in Missouri and was brought home on the train in a glass top casket.
Mary Maxine BASSETT (her sister) explained that the family was in Kentucky, where her father was filling in for another train depot agent, when baby Ellen became very ill and died. The local doctor said it was spinal menengites and had the family quarentened until Guy's brother came. The baby was emballmed, and the family took her home to Bloomfield Iowa in a small white glass topped casket.
