  Notes	Lowell Sun, 22 Apr 2006 Arthur J. Bassett BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Arthur J. Bassett, 91, of Boynton Beach and formerly of Lowell, who owned a real estate business in the city of Lowell, and was a World War II veteran, died Sunday, April 2, at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton. He was the husband of Althea (Collins) Bassett. He was born in Lowell, Oct. 4, 1914, son of the late Thomas and Katherine Bassett. He graduated from Lowell High School and attended the Lowell Textile School. Mr. Bassett was active in sports, including track in high school and semi-pro football with the Lowell Butlers. He was also very active with the Lowell Sports Legends. During World War II, Mr. Bassett was a military police officer stationed at the White House and spent time as a combat engineer. After the ward, he was a sales representative for several New York lumber companies. Before retiring to Florida in 1980, Mr. Bassett and his wife, Althea, ran a successful real estate business in Lowell. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Robert, both of Lowell, and Stephen and Gail, of Garland, Texas. He was also the brother of the late Mary, Fred, Claire, and Ned Bassett, and Alice Bebler and Dorothy Crowley.
