Miss Butler, Mr. Bass Are Wed At Bladenboro
Miss Jennie Sue Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman A. Butler of Bladenboro and William Henry Bass of Charlotte, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry K> Bass of Goldsboro, were married July 10 in the Zion Hill Baptist church of Bladenboro.
Rev. Joel S. Hill officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before an arrangements of southern evergreens, palms, and baskets of white gladioli, with candelabra holding white tapers.
Mrs. Harry Lane Walters and Miss Carrie Inman Freeman presented a program of wedding music. Miss Freeman sang ?Because? and ?I Love You Truly.?
BRIDE?S GOWN
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white waffle pique dress trimmed with Irish lace and white accessories. She carried a prayer book topped with an orchid.
Miss Ruby Butler, sister of the bride and maid of honor, wore a powder blue dress with white accessories and carried a nosegay of pink roses. Edward Bass, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were William Butler, Clarence Butler, Jr., Elden Hester, and Robert Lewis.
The mother of the bride wore a navy dress with white accessories. The mother of the bridegroom wore a navy and white printed crepe dress. She wore matching accessories and carried a shoulder bouquet of red roses.
Mrs. Bass was graduated from Bladenboro High school and the National School of Commerce in Charlotte. The bridegroom was graduated from Goldsboro High school, during the ware he served with the U.S> Army in Europe, and he is now employed by H.E. Pennigar company of Charlotte.
TO LIVE IN CHARLOTTE
After their wedding grip, the couple will be at home at 508 Summitt avenue, Charlotte.
A reception was held at the home of the bride?s sisters, Mrs. Robert Lewis, The home was decorated with evergreen, palms, and white flowers. The bride?s table was covered with an Irish linen cloth and was centered with white daisies flanked by candelabra holding tall white tapers.
Guests were received at the door by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewis and were introduced to the receiving line composed of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman A. Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Henry K. Bass, and the bridal party. Those serving ice cream and cake were Mrs. W.B. Hilburn, Mrs. Ed B. Lewis, Mrs. James Phillips, Miss Emily Shaw, Miss Hattie Singletary, Miss Sudie June Phillips, Mrs. Foster Smith, Mrs. Hollis Freeman, and Mrs. Mack Britt. Mrs. Truett Freeman and Mrs. Paul Johnson presided at the punch bowl. Miss Emma Lewis and Miss Syble Butler served mints. Mrs. W.G. Fussell said good-byes
