He retired in 1967. He was the father of Pittsfield Police Lt. Norman J. Bessette. Born in Adams, he lived in Adams and North Adams, then in Dalton 41 years. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Pittsfield, he was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs and Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs? Association. He leaves his wife, the former Dorlida M. Schenail; another son, Roland E. of Dalton and four grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday morning at Dery Funeral Home and in the church with burial in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, all Pittsfield.
