Raymond A. Bessette
BESSETTE, RAYMOND A. 'RAY', 84, formerly of Spring St., Pawtucket died Thursday at Steere House, Providence. Born in Pawtucket a son of the late Aldei L. and Laura (Boulais) Bessette, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
He was a WW II Air Force Veteran. Prior to retiring in 1977 he had been employed as a carpenter with his brother Bertrand 'Bill' Bessette in the Pawtucket and Seekonk area for 30 years and later worked at Carlton Mfg. of Central Falls and Lincoln Controls of Pawtucket for a short period. Mr. Bessette was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Walcott St., Pawtucket, a life member of Le Foyer, a former member of the American Legion Post #0014 of Cumberland and the Lefebvre Post of Central Falls.
He leaves several nieces and nephews, among whom include Annette and John Johnson, with whom he lived for 45 years, and several step nieces and nephews and was the longtime companion of Clarice Pare of Pawtucket. He was the brother of the late Henry Bessette, Bertrand Bessette, Jeannette Berthellette and Florence Thurber.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME 643 Main St., Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church, Walcott St., at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Monday, 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to Steere House, 100 Borden St., Providence, 02903. Burial Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
