Lillian M. (Kelley) Bassett
CHATHAM - Lillian M. (Kelley) Bassett, 88, a homemaker and longtime resident
of Chatham, died yesterday at the Cranberry Pointe Nursing Home in Harwich.
She was the wife of Lester Bassett, who died in 1984. Born in Brockton, Mrs.
Bassett was raised and educated in Dennis. She moved to Chatham in 1930. A
member of the Critian Temple No. 85 Epithian Sisters, Dennis, she enjoy
sewing, gardening, reading, rock hunting in Maine and was very family
oriented. Surviving are three daughters, Marlene Devlin of West Chatham,
Kathleen LaPlant of Eastham and Christine Bassett of West Roxbury; a nephew,
Roland Kelley of West Chatham, whom she raised as a son; 11 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral
service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87
Crowell Road, Chatham. Burial is in Seaside Cemetery, Chatham. Visiting hours
are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
