- RUTH (MILLER) BESSETTE WINOOSKI — Ruth (Miller) Bessette, 74, a longtime resident of Winooski, died at her home Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, with her family by her side after a long battle with cancer. Ruth was born in Esx Junction on July 13, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Devino) Bissette. She was married to Harold Miller, who predeceased her in 1976. June 16, 1984, she married Joseph "Andy" Bessette. She was employed for many years at the American Woolen Mill and the Winooski Eagles. Ruth is survived by her husband, Joseph "Andy" Bessette of Winooski; her children, Nancy Shangraw and husband David, Barbara Wells, Dorothy Sorrell, Beverly Wells and husband, Clayton, James Miller, Carl Miller, Robert Miller and Kelly Delong, Richard Miller and wife Cathy, Timothy Miller with loving memory of his deceased wife, JoAnne, Anthony Miller, Doreen Pratt and husband Ernest, Lynn Goodrich and husband Robert, Paul Miller and Kim Brown; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph Bissette and wife Barbara, and Richard Bissette and wife Anita; her sisters, Del Bartolotti, Mildred Rabidoux, Alice Roberts, Florence Couture and husband Donald, Emily Lesage, Lorraine Martel and Doris Mendl and husband Tony; several nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law Milford Bessette and wife Sharon; three stepchildren, Steven, Andrew and Wanda; friends considered family, Susan Corron and Brenda Greenough; special friends Tina Duval, Tammy and Arturrio Grammal,;and all her friends at Lone Pine Campground. Ruth was predeceased by her sisters, Pearl Bove and husband, Ernie, and Marion Darling and husband, Henry Darling Sr.; her brother, Donald Bissette; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Ida Bessette; and brothers-inlaw, Libero Bartolotti, Roger Rabidoux, Clement Roberts and Louis Lesage. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in Essex Junction. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446. 08/30/2003 WINOOSKI — BESSETTE, Ruth "Miller" — Funeral services celebrating Ruth's life were held Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Catholic Church by the Rev. Paul St. James. Words of remembrance were shared with the many in attendance by Ruth's sister, Lorraine Martel. Interment followed in Holy Family Cemetery in Essex Junction with Fr. St. James offering committal prayers. Bearers were Ruth's son, James Miller, and grandsons Mike Blake, Justin Bissonnette, Todd Hallock, Richard Ravelin, Daniel Miller and Brian Goodrich. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home, Winooski.
