Ralph E. Bass
WILLIAMSBURG - Ralph Edwin Bass, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 24.
Born in Red Oak, Iowa, Mr. Bass attended Iowa State College in the 1920s. During the 1930s he moved to Spotsylvania County and worked as an electrician in the Sylvania Cellophane Plant in Fredericksburg for 12 years. In the mid-1940s he operated a contracting business in rural Spotsylvania County for 18 years.
Mr. Bass also studied electricity by correspondence course and was a 1962 graduate of Madison College.
In 1972 he retired from Spotsylvania High School after 10 years as a science and vocational education teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Wayland N. Bass of Williamsburg and R. Alden Bass of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Monday in chapel of Sunset Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Clyde Coleman.
Memorial to endowment fund of Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road, Williamsburg 23185.
