A.B. Bass is victim of Odd Auto Mishap - "Truck Crushes Garretta Man To Death Against Brick Wall Last Night"

Adolph B. Bass, 45, Garretta, was almost instantly killed last night when a Ford truck smashed him against a brick wall in Garretta. Mr. Bass had jacked up the rear wheels of the truck to attach a pulley for the purpose of cranking up the dynamo which provides light for the Garretta Trading Company offices, when the truck slipped from the jack and plunged toward the brick wall of the building. He was caught in the sudden rush and crushed to death against the wall. Mr. Bass was rushed to the hospital here, but was dead before he could be taken inside.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at the Blue Water Baptist Church with the Rev. J.E. Townsend in charge. Interment will be at the Clark Famly Cemetery near Garretta with the Adams Funeral Parlor in charge. The deceased is survived by his wife, the former Miss Martha Clark, and seven children: Alton Bass, Atlanta, Reid Bass, a student at the Berry Schools near Rome, Eugene Bass, Sara, Mary, Jo, Charles and an infant one month of age, of Garretta. One brother, J.W. Bass, Garretta, four sisters, Mrs. C.C. Daniel [Sudie], Buckhorn, Mrs. G.F. Burney [Ellen Lou], Cadwell, Mrs. P.C. Priest [Sally], New Falls, Ala., and Mrs. Liza Stephens [Mary Elizabeth] of Alamo, also survive, as well as a host of friends. Mr. Bass was a faithful member of the Blue Water Baptist Church
