      Irving George Bass

Irving George Bass Was born in Pottawattamie county, Aug. 2, 1894. Just following the death of his mother In 1899 the family moved to near Red Oak and a few years later to a farm near Emerson. He lived in this locality until he went to Colorado in 1921 hoping to regain his health. There he fought a courageous battle for health which ended only with his death Oct. 2, 1928.He attended the rural schools of Montgomery county and the Red Oak high school. He was engaged in farming for a few years previous to and following his Induction into the army in September, 1918. He served as a limited service man at Fort Bayard, N, Mex. and was mustered out in November, 1919.
On May 22, 1923 he was married to Mrs, Martha Jensen. To this union have been born two children, Mary Ellen and George Judson. The home life of the family was ideal.
Everything that could be done by a devoted wife to aid him in regaining his health and prolonging his life was done without stint or thought of self.
Irving united with tbe Baptist church at the age of sixteen in Red Oak, later transferred to Emerson, and a few years ago to the Methodist church In Hillrose. Colo. His spiritual life had developed with his infirmity and to the virtues of honesty, ability, courage, and fair-mindedness he had added patience, faith, and unselfishness. He will not only be missed by his family but also by his large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Lucius L. Smith in charge. Burial in Emerson Cemetery.
