Mrs. Gertrude A. Best
BASSETT Mrs. Gertrude A. Best, 74, OF Granville Summit, Pa. died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1983 at her home. Mrs. Best was born April 18, 1908, in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pa., a daughter of Martin and Sadie Ollinger Bassett. She was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge No. 429, Women of the Moose. She is survived by six sons, Robert Best, Sr. of Canton RD 1, Lloyd and Martin Best of Granville Summit, James Best, Sr. of Troy, Paul Best of Canton and Dale Best of Canton RD 1; four daughters, Mrs. Glen (Betty) Morgan of Canton; Mrs. Willard (Doris) Wright of Penn Yan RD 2, NY, Mrs. Robert (Janice) Ward of Granville Summit and Ms. Beatrice Best of Granville Summit; two brothers, Wendell Bassett of Canton RD 1 and Kenneth Bassett of Canton; one sister, Mrs. Alice Storrs of Canton; 20 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Best was predeceased by her husband, James H. Best, in July of 1973. Funeral and committal services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Morse-Kleese funeral Home, 40 N. Center St., Canton with the Rev. Duane Taylor, supply minister, officiating. Interment will be in the Beech Flats Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canton Ambulance Association in Mrs. Best?s memory.
