Myrtle Irene Cannon Bass
Chapin - Funeral Services for Myrtle Irene Cannon Bass, 84, were held at 10 a.m. today, November 17, 2010 at Mount Horeb Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Berley, Matt Holland, Charles Ray Cannon, Andy Turner, Tim Slice and Dr. Carroll Pinner III. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Generations of Chapin and Harmony Hospice. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mount Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 East Boundary Street, Chapin, South Carolina 29036. Mrs. Bass was born May 27, 1926 in Chapin and passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010. She was a daughter of the late Murl F. Cannon and Hassie Eleazer Cannon. She retired from General Electric. She was a 1944 graduate of Chapin High School and was a member of the women's basketball team from 1940-1941. Mrs. Bass is survived by her children, Gayle Cannon (Brice) of Little Mountain, Steve Bass (Brenda) of Pomaria; grandchildren, Gary Bass, Brichette Holland (Matt), Kristy Berley (Allen); great-grandchildren, Mattie, Emily, Bryson Holland, Lexi Bass, Alleigh, Kameron and Allex Berley; brothers, James Magnus Cannon and Ray Cannon. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde Bass.
