Young Schleswig Business Man Weds

SCHELSWIG, Ia., July 21 ? Floyd Bassett, one of the best known and popular young men of this place, was married July 19, at Manning, to Miss Emily Debar. They at once started on an auto trip to Syracuse, N.Y. The grooms is a son of L.H. Bassett, former builder and contractor of this city. He now is associated here in the plumbing business with a leading firm.

Claims $800 From Estate of Father
Probate Case of Denison Man Goes to Jury: Said To Be Loan

DENISON, Ia., April 7 ? District court reconvened Monday with Judge M.E. Hutchison presiding. A jury was called to give a verdict in the probate case of Floyd Bassett against the estate of his father, L.H. Bassett. The father was a contractor and builder living for some years at Schleswig in this county. His first wife, the mother of Floyd, died and he was married again but did not live long afterwards. The son is now claiming $800 of his father?s estate against the second wife on the ground that this sum had been loaned by him to his father.

DENISON, Ia., March 11 ? The district court of Crawford county has been called upon to determine who shall have the $2,000 due from the Modern Woodmen of the World on the policy written L.H. Bassett, now deceased. Bassett took out a policy at Dunlap June 23, 1900. The policy made the beneficiary on his death his wife, Nellie H. Bassett. Mr. Bassett died June 14, 1929. In the interval between taking out the policy and his death Nellie H. Bassett died and he married again. No change in the beneficiary named in the policy was made. The second wife, Gertrude, is now making claim to the insurance and also two sons of the first wife, Edwin and Floyd. The insurance company is bringing suit to have the court decide to whom the insurance shall be paid. The case comes before Judge McCord in the court beginning March 17.
