Mary was born Aug. 9, 1918 to Helen and Dudley Bassett in Ogdensburg, New York at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital. She attended local schools in Ogdensburg and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1936. She then attended Jersey City Medical Center graduating in 1940. While growing up in Ogdensburg, she became an avid tennis player. She enjoyed swimming, reading and was an active church member. After graduating from Jersey Medical Center as a registered nurse, she worked in numerous hospitals: New Jersey, New York, Panama Canal Zone and California. She retired in 1985 as a Health Services Specialist for the State of California in Napa. She was a member of the California Nurses Association for 45 years. Mary is survived by her eleven children, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren & one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held in Ogdensburg, New York.
