      Majorie Bass

      Mrs. Marjorie Long Bass, 69, entered the Church Triumphant on Thursday, January 4, 2007. Born in Kingstree, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lorenza Dowe (L.D.) Long, Sr. and the late Minnie Altman Long. Marjorie graduated from Brevard Junior College, Brevard, NC, Columbia College, Columbia, and Francis Marion University, Florence. She taught in the public school system for 28 years, including Saluda High School in Saluda, Johnsonville High School in Johnsonville, Southside Junior High School in Florence, Westover Middle School in Fayetteville, NC, and Dillon High School in Dillon. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Benjamin J. Bass and her brother, Lorenza Dowe Long, Jr. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Quinney of North Charleston; foster-son, James David Watson (Latta); step-grandchildren, Lisa (Jim) Hart; Trenton (Nancy) Quinney, and Philip Quinney; step-great-grandchildren, Emily Quinney and James Hart; many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at Latta Presbyterian Church with interment following at Magnolia Cemetery, directed by KANNADAY'S FUNERAL HOME OF LATTA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Latta Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 5, Latta, SC 29565; any Hospice organization, or any of the Presbyterian Homes in South Carolina.
