Notes	Richmond Dispatch, Virginia, 25 January 1871 Death Of Dr. John Minge ? One by one the old Virginia gentlemen pass away, and the places that knew them once will know them no more. Dr. Minge died on Monday in Charles City county ? on the banks of the James he loved so well ? full of years, having passed the time allotted to mankind. He went down to the grave, beloved by all that knew him. He was a true friend in the strictest sense of the word, and often during his life did he prove it. Perhaps no man in Virginia healed more quarrels than he; he was always ready to interpose, and in an honorable way, to prevent bloodshed. In the decline of life he looked back with so much pleasure to those acts of his life. Many that knew him as the host of the old City Hotel of this city, and the Bollingbrook of Petersburg, will shed tears over the grave of one of Virginia?s truest sons. On next Friday, at noon, his remains will be laid in the Adams family vault on Clinch Hill [Church Hill]. The funeral services will take place in St. John?s Church.
