Joel B. Searle Died After Long Illness
Northampton, May 8 - Joel Bassett Searle, 48, operator of the West Street station of the Northampton Electric Lighting company for the past nine years, died at Dickinson hospital last night after a long illness.
A native of this city, Mr. Searle was educated in the public schools here and at Williston academy, Easthampton. On May 10, 1916, he married Miss Ethelwin Clarke of Easthampton and for two years lived in that town. He then moved to Hadley where he was engaged in farming with his father. He came to this city in 1928. He was a member of the Edwards Congregational church and the Northampton Grange.
Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Donald E., at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Louise Fowles of Southampton. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 at the Edwards church chapel, Rev. C.E. Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Easthampton.
