Royal Bassett, 72, of W5831 Cedar Rd., Died Tuesday
Royal Bassett, 72, of W5831 Cedar Rd., died Tuesday March 28, 1995 in Bethany St. Joseph Care Center. He married Phyllis Prielipp in 10942 and after her death in 1983, he married Jean Gitz in 1984. He was employed by Erickson Bakeries for 40 years, retiring in 1985 as general sales manager. He was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Ambassadors. He had served on the board of Lutheran Hospital; had been a Toastmaster; and was a past president of the La Crosse Advertising Club. He served as treasurer of Elks Lodge #300 and was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club, past president and past lt. governor. He was a member and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steve of Madison and Charles (Chris) of La Crosse; a grandson, Jason; three sisters, Ferrol )Orvavl) Severson of La Crosse, Doris Elliott of Janesville and Lilah Powers of Gold Beach, Ore.; and a brother, Francis Bassett of Elmira, Ore. He was precdeded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Frandsen officiating. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Woodruff Funeral Home, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., and from 1 p.m. until the time of service3s Saturday in the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church or the Gundersen Clinic Foundation.
