Couple Observe 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Holsey J. Searle of Hadley Honored at Brother's Home
Northampton, May 6 - Mr. and Mrs. Holsey J. Searle of Hadley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday night at the home of Mr. Searle's brother, C.P. Searle, on Bridge street. Dinner was served to a company of 26, and gold pieces and other gifts were presented to the guests of honor.
Mr. Searle is a native of Huntington and Mrs. Searle is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joel Bassett of Easthampton. They were married by Rev. A.M. Colton of Easthampton. Mr. and Mrs. Searle formerly lived on Park Hill, near the Easthampton line, in Northampton, and he is a former alderman of Northampton. On the Easthampton side of the line, he was prominent in the Easthampton Farmers' club. Mr. and Mrs. Searle have a son, Joel of Hadley, and five grandchildren.

Hadley, March 24 - Ms. Holsey J. Searle, 76, of Hartsbrook, died this afternoon at the Dickinson hospital after an illness of a week of pneumonia. Mrs. Searle was born in Holyoke, April 17, 1852. She was married to Holsey J. Searle on May 8, 1878. Most of her married life was spent in Easthampton where she was for many years a member of the First Congregational church. She was also a member for many years of the Easthampton grange and the Easthampton Farmers' club. For the past 11 years she and her husband made their home with their son, Joel Searle of Hartsbrook.
