Les was the son of John Bassett Huckaby and Mildred Huckaby Davis. He was born May 10, 1953, in Watervliet, MI. His family moved to Missouri when he was seven years old. He moved to El Dorado Springs when he was a teen and attended high school here. Les was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam, the first as a mechanic and the second as a helicopter gunman. Les leaves two sons, Kyle Huckaby - Larrabee, IA, and Colton Huckaby - Sutherland, IA; seven brothers - Steve Huckaby - El Dorado Springs, Larry Huckaby - Kansas City, Don Huckaby - El Dorado Springs, Alan Huckaby - Clinton, James Huckaby –Warsaw, and Ron Huckaby - Bates City; and one sister, Lynda Bishop - El Dorado Springs. Preceding him in death were his father, John Bassett Huckaby; his mother, Mildred (Owens) Huckaby Davis; an infant brother, Jerry; and his stepfather, Fred Davis. A memorial service is planned for the spring.
