Traffic wreck victim dies in hospital
A Rocky Mount man died Tuesday night of injuries sustained in a car wreck more than two weeks ago. David Bass, 73, died as a result of a three-car accident just after 2 p.m. April 10 in Edgecombe County. The North Carolina Highway Patrol determined that Bass, traveling east on Seven Bridges Road, pullled out in front of a car traveling south on Battleboro-Leggett Road. The two cars collided and Bass's car hit a third vehicle. The report estimated that Bass was traveling about 15 miles per hour, and the car that hit him was going about 60 mph. Bass was found at fault in the accident, so no charges will be filed in connection to his death.
