Miss Mary Catharine Martin, 65, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Ross of 203 Clark St. of New Martinsville, following an extended illness. She was born in Wetzel County, July 3, 1886, the daughter of Aaron and Lucinda Solvil Bassett. She was a member of the Brown St. Church of Christ of Akron, Ohio. Prior to death she was employed by the Edwin Shaw Sanitarium of Akron. Surviving in addition to the daughter in New Martinsville, are two sons, Elgie of Reader and Charles of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Jim and Elisha Bassett both of Reader; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Caylor and Mrs. Ben Furbee, both of Reader; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Elk Fork No. 3 Church of Christ with Evang Lawrence Gardner of Parkersburg officiating. Interment will follow in the Straight cemetery of Reader. The body will remain in the Sawyer and Sellers funeral home in Middlebourne until time for services.
