Gordon deLancey
PROCTOR - Gordon deLancey, 83, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Sudbury, Vermont, son of Lorrillard deLancey and Lena Belle Venner. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army 1953 to 1955 in the Korean era. He married Barbara N. Bassett on July 3, 1955, at the Brandon Congregational Church. He lived in Hubbardton until 1955, moved to Brandon and lived there until 1969, when he moved to Proctor to work for Robert and Sally Proctor and retired in 1995.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara; three sons Terry, David and Scott; two daughters Trena and Lisa; two daughters-in-law Sue and Tammy; eight grandchildren Jessica, Mandi, Anthony, Crystal, Alyssa, Ashley, Stephanie and Ryan; 15 great-grandchildren Jacob, Nathan, Abby, Brighton, Brennen, Maddie, Nolan, Emily, Erica, Alex, Anthony, Chase, Juliana, Jo-Jo and Isaiah; three brothers, three sisters; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Gordon will be remembered as a loving husband and always being there for his children. He loved doing all kinds of jobs from painting, mowing lawns, fixing cars, cutting down trees, growing big gardens, planting flowers, fixing anything in his workshop back to new, carpentry work, waxing his van twice a week, and endless amounts of free advice. He was our father, our grandfather, a teacher, our best friend and a one-in-a-trillion husband.
