Max Bassitt (Picture included)
LIMA ? Max D. Bassitt, age 87, passed away March 8, 2017, at 7:10 am, at the Lima Memorial Health System. Max was born August 24, 1929 in Lima, OH, to Oak D. and Susan (Barr) Bassitt who preceded him in death. On April 2, 1953 he married Marlette J. (Barber) Bassitt who preceded him in death on August 17, 2013.
Max was a Millwright with the Lima Ford Engine Plant from which he retired in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Max was a lifetime member of the VFW #1275 and he enjoyed mowing the grass and putting around in the garage.
Max is survived by his 2 daughters; Teresa (Todd) Zapp of Lima, OH and Dianna Bassitt of Lima, OH, 3 grandchildren; Angela (Steve) Bartholomew, Penny (Tony) Palin and William Max Warner, 8 great grandchildren, a brother, Sam (Barb) Bassitt of Lima, OH and a sister, Corrine Brown of Lafayette, OH.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Royce, John, Ralph and Bobby Bassitt, 2 sisters; Alice Johns and Dorothy Doctor.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 pm at EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
