Ann (Daly) Raab (1940-2016) (Picture included)

Ann Raab, 75, after a valiant and brave battle succumbed to cancer on October 5, 2016, surrounded by friends and family.

She was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on November 15, 1940, the daughter of Godfrey William Daly and Ursula Bernadette (Bassett) Daly. Her father worked in various places as a painter, so the family moved often.

At a young age, Ann went to live her with grandparents on a farm near Currie, Minnesota. She was raised by her grandparents there and in Currie during her school years until her parents purchased a boarding house in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family moved in 1957 to Denver, Colorado, where she attended Denver North High School.

Ann married Dean Denny in 1958, and they had four children: Todd, Teresa, Elaine and Theodore. They divorced in 1976 ,and Ann began work as a secretary in the computer management science department at Metropolitan State College in Denver.

There, she met faculty member Joseph Raab, and they began dating in 1988. After building a house together in Pine, Colorado, they married on August 20, 1994. After leaving Pine in 1998, they purchased property east of Sequim.

They moved to Port Angeles in the fall of 2000 and designed and in July of 2001 built a house on their property and moved into it, where they lived since then. They also purchased a condominium in Tucson, Arizona, where they would spend time in the winter months.

Early on, Ann and Joe enjoyed bicycling the paths around the Denver area. Later, they walked entirely around Carrie Blake Park in Sequim every day for five years. Ann enjoyed flower gardening and growing vegetables in her greenhouse, especially with the help of grandchildren.

Ann is greatly missed by her husband, children and grandchildren, with whom she shared her deep respect for all things beautiful. She deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her first cat, Milktovitch.

She had a unique way of looking at the world and helped everyone see the beauty in people and nature. Everyone who knew her loved her as well.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Daly.

She is survived by her husband; her sons, Todd Denny of Hot Springs, Montana, and Theodore Denny of Sequim; her daughters, Teresa Schroeder of Denver and Elaine Pace (Richard) of Bellingham, Washington; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration-of-life memorial service will be held at the clubhouse at Pioneer Park, 387 East Washington Street in Sequim, on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Photographs of her life will be displayed, her favorite music played and eulogies given, all followed by a light snack.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (540 East Eighth Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362), who were such a help to Ann and her family during her last days.
