Mildred E. Bass
Bass, Mildred E. - age 91 of Knoxville, died on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Shannondale Nursing Home. She was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women there. Mrs. Bass graduated from Central High School in 1932 where she was a member of the basketball team. After high school, she attended and graduated from Knoxville Business College. Mildred's favorite pastime over the years was playing bridge with her friends. During her younger years she enjoyed being a candy striper at St. Mary's Hospital. Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Bass and her second husband John Wesley; brothers Tom, James, and Charles Beam; sister, Alva Barringer; and her mother and father Jesse and Modesta Beam. Survived by children, Jackie and husband Neal Cook, Marty Bass, Joyce and husband Bob Winstead, and Mike and wife Diane Bass; grandchildren, Terry Cook, Deanna Pritchett, Mark and Vicki Bass, Paul and wife Dana Bass, Todd Johnson, Marti Lynn and husband Fred Cleveland, Chris Bass, and Steven Bass; great grandchildren, Jessica Bass, Chris Bass, Will Bass, Sarah Bass, and Taylor Pritchett and sister-in-law Jean Beam. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Shannondale Nursing Home, especially Kristy Munford, and also the Hospice staff for their tender loving care. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel, interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev.
