Man Dies in House Fire
Bellingham had its first fire fatality of the yar Sunday morning when William F. Bass, 41, 1904½ H. St., died in a fire at his small one bedroom home.
Fireman said police discovered the fire and called firemen about 4:30 a.m.
Bass, a barber, was found dead in his bedroom. The fire apparently was caused by Bass smoking in bed. No one else was home when the fire started.
Extensive damage is reported to the bedroom and moderate damage to the rest of the house.
Survivors include his wife, Marlina, and three sons, Scott in Missouri, and Lars and Melvin of, Bellingham; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Lawrence Bass, city; three brothers, Edawrd, Forest and Sonny, all Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Sorensen, city, Mrs. Jewll Vanoven, Marshall, Il., and Mrs. Wanda Wheeler, Kodiak.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
