Two Members of H.H.S. Faculty Resign
Miss Clarissa Persing to Wed in July
Miss Clarissa Persing, Librarian and Dramatic Coach at Hilton High
School for the past four years, will not return to Hilton for another year.
Miss Persing, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon A. Persing of Ceres,
N.Y., will be married the first of July to Robert B. Bassett, son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Bassett of Alfred, N.Y. The ceremony will be performed in the
chapel of Alfred University, of which both are graduates, with her sisters,
Miss Luraine Persing of Ceres and Leland Armstrong of Alfred the only
attendants. Mr. Bassett is a ceramic engineer located at present in
Darlington, Pa., where they plan to make their home.
Hilton can be proud of the work Miss Persing has done since her
arrival in Hilton. From a mere pile of books, she has organized and classified
a library of several thousand books, so that at the present time Hilton High
School can boast of having the best library of any small school in this
vicinity.

Clarissa 'Claire' A. Bassett
Clarissa "Claire" A. Bassett, 98, of Lewiston, N.Y., formerly of
Chippewa Township, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Bassett in 1983; her husband, Robert
B. Bassett, in 1985; a sister, Luraina Robbins, and three brothers, Joh
Douglas and Gerald Persing.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty A. Bassett and Roy
E. Metcalfe, St. Anns, Ontario, Canada; a granddaughter and her husband, Renee
and Phillip Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Clarissa Taylor, a
Hamilton, N.Y.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman
Funeral Home, www.hillandhunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver
Falls, where a service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the
Rev. Rodney E. Smith, officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Par
