Scott ? Bassett
The marriage of Mr. Harold Anthony, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Scott, of Steel?s Creek road, Yarra Glen, to Doris Irene, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Bassett, of Toolangi, took place on 23rd October last at the Church of England, Toolangi, by the rev. Wilkinson, of Healesville. The bride (who was given away by her father) looked charming in a dress of white silk trimmed with shadow lace with wreath and veil to match, and carried a bouquet of flowers. The bridesmaids, Miss Thelma Bassett, sister of the bride, and Miss Vera Ellis, both wore dresses of white silk, and carried bouquets. Mrs. Bassett (mother of the bride) wore a handsome black silk costume. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. Walters and Mr. Les Bassett.
The reception was held at the residence of the bride?s parents, and quite 150 people sat down to partake of the good things provided. The toast of the evening, ?The bride and bridegroom,? was proposed by the Rev. Wilkinson, and responded to by the Bridegroom. Mr. A. Hubbard proposed the toast of ?The bridesmaids? and Mr. J. Walters responded. ?The bride and bridegroom?s parents? was proposed by Mr. C. Bath, and Mr. Bassett and Mr. Sam Scott responded. A move was then made to the schoolroom, where dancing was kept up till morning.
