- OBITUARIES
MRS. J.T. Bassett
Mrs. Ethel Spady Bassett, 65, of 204 Apple Ave., Hampton, died at 7:15 A.M. yesterday in Riverside Hospital after a short illness.
A native of Isle of Wight County, Mrs. Bassett had been a Peninsula resident for 37 years and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service and the Mispah Bible Class.
Survivors are her husband, Joseph T. Bassett of Hampton; a son, Stafford L. Bassett of Hampton; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Leyland and Mrs. Frank Beard, both of Hampton; two brothers, Amos Spady of Hampton and Ramos Spady of Carrollton; three sisters, Mrs. T.W. Clayton of Hampton; Mrs. Edward Butler of Carrollton and Mrs. Eillie Gale of Smithfield, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday in Trinity Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edwin S. Sheppe, D.D., pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.W. Murphy, pastor of Aldersgate Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be George G. Cory, H.W. Carter, W.F. Boerner Sr., E.J. Garrett Jr., Lavern E. Moody, and A.S. Church. Other friends of the family will be honorary pallbearers.
