Charles Allan Bass
JOHNSON CREEK - An 82-year-old Madison man recently died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash last month in the Village of Johnson Creek.
Charles Allan Bass was injured in the crash at the junction of County Highway B and Wright Road at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Jefferson County Coroner Patrick Theder said Bass, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered head and cervical injuries, He was transported to Aurora Hospital in Oconomowoc, where he died on Monday, Oct. 13.
Aprevious write-up of the incident indicated that Bass was on Highway Bat the time of the incident.
However, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported that Bass was driving south on Wright Road in a 2012 Toyota Avalon four-door car when he failed to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign.

According to the report, Bass pulled into the intersection In front of a 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Arik L. Lynch, 25, of Waterloo, who was driving east on Highway B.
The resulting collision spun the truck almost 180 degrees, and then the pickup struck a utility pole, the report said. Bass' car left the road to the southeast and came to a rest next to some trees.
Bass had to be extricated from his car.
Meanwhile, Lynch and his passenger, Leah Jean Borbash, 23, Johnson Creek, received "nonincapacitating injuries" and had to be transported by ambulance from the scene.
The crash initially resulted in a citation to Lynch for an insurance violation and acitation to Bass for violating a traffic-control signal, according to the report.
A 1950 Madison West High School graduate and Korean War Navy veteran, Bass was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in economics. He worked as an industrial engineer for the JCPenney catalog division in Wauwatosa for 35 years. He also was an amateur pilot and photographer who recently published a book about his experiences working on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad during the 1950s.

Charles Allan ?Charlie? Bass
JOHNSON CREEK / MADISON - Charles "Charlie" A. Bass, age 82, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, in Oconomowoc, as a result of his injuries sustained in an auto accident in Johnson Creek.
Charlie was born on May 27, 1932, in Madison, to the late Roger and Alva (Anderson) Bass. He is a 1950 graduate of Madison West High School. Charlie proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War on board the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea as the ship's electrician. After the Navy, he worked his way through college by working on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Charles married Linda Lindsay on July 8, 1967, in Glenwood Moravian Community Church in Madison. Charlie remained a railroad buff his whole life, and was an avid model railroader. He is a graduate of UW Madison with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Charles worked as an industrial engineer for the JC Penney catalog division in Wauwatosa for 35 years. He was an amateur pilot and a skilled photographer who developed his own pictures. He recently published a book about his experiences working on the C&NW Railroad during the 1950s.
Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; three children, Lisa (Paul) Muench, David Bass and Dianna Bisone; three grandchildren, Carl Muench, Vaughn Muench and Elena Bisone; siblings, Patricia (Jerry) Edgar, Roberta Stockton, and Gerald (Kay) Bass; sister-in-law, Jean Dudley Bass; Thomas (Deborah) Bass and Christine (David) Kilps. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Bass; nephew, Jeffrey Bass; and brother-in-law, Richard Stockton.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at GLENWOOD MORAVIAN COMMUNITY CHURCH, 725 Gilmore St., Madison, with his nephew, the Rev. Andrew Kilps, presiding. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
