?Tucna Folks Attend Rites for Bassett
WASHTUCNA - Community folks attending the funeral of Robert H. Bassett in Walla Walla Saturday included Mrs. Sarah Burns, Mrs. Ollie St. John, Mrs. Gertie McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Snyder, Nick Kutas,
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Hollenback, George Sullivan and Mrs. Esther Day of Pasco. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Woodyard and children, Mrs. Ruby Murphy, Mrs. James
Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Sitton, Miss Margaret Leonard of Ritzville and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cameron.
Bassett was born in Washtucna December 11, 1903. He died in Walla Walla April 30. His grandparent, George W. Bassett, was among the original settlers at Washtucna Springs. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Bassett.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, and three sisters, Miss Esther Bassett of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Louise Burkland of Longview, and Mrs. Gertrude Bury of Pullman.
Services were held at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. Charles D. Messinger officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery
in Walla Walla.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were James Woodyard, James Murphy and Sherman McGregor of Hooper.
Active pallbearers were Nick Kutas, Earl Snyder, George Sullivan, Mel Hollenback, Virgil Sitton and Floyd Cameron.
