  Notes	Martinsville Bulletin Samuel Henry Bassett Samuel (Sam) Henry Bassett, 69, passed away March 29, 2015, after a long illness in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Sam was born in Roanoke, Va., July 12, 1945 to the late Curtis Bassett and late Cleopatra Bassett Wilson. Mr. Bassett was named after his grandfather, one of the original founders of Bassett Furniture Co. Sam lived in Bassett, Va, until the family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in 1953 where he has resided since. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in building construction. He loved making models, carpentry and playing the clarinet. He is survived by daughter, Audra Bassett-Touchell and husband Darren of Asheville, NC.; son, Samuel Henry Bassett, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; beloved grandchildren, Jarred and Avery; his sisters, Harriat Bassett Smith and Charlotte Wilson Deakins; one niece and two nephews. He leaves many devoted cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bassett Historical Center, 3964 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055.
