Walton Kenneth Smith, Putnam Station
Walton Kenneth Smith, 57, of Putnam Station, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 15, 2016, as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Ticonderoga, November 20, 1958, he is the son of Kenneth and Grace M. (Bessette) Smith of Putnam Station. Walton was a lifelong resident of Putnam Station and was a member of the Putnam Log Chapel. He was currently employed with IUOE Local # 158, Operating Engineers for William J. Keller & Sons Construction Company of Castleton. He was previously employed by A.P. Reale & Sons and Reale Construction Company. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend. Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Michele A. (Donovan) Smith; his four children, Casey Eccleston of Jefferson, Ga., Zachary Smith of Moriah, Joseph Donovan of Putnam Station, and Katherine Smith of Putnam Station; four sisters, Patricia (Larry) Patch of Ticonderoga, Nancy Tyrell of Florida, Beverly Prentice of Massachusetts, and Christina (Ray) Cardinale of Virginia; and his five grandchildren, Maxx Eccleston, Ayden Smith, Mason Eccleston, Landon Smith and James Robbins. He loved the way his grandson James affectionately called him "Papa." He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Eileen (Graham) Greeley of Putnam Station; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Kenneth J. Smith; and his father-in-law, Michael Donovan. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Meadow Knoll Cemetery of Putnam Station. Donations in Walton's memory may be made to a charity of one?s choice.
