Lewis M. Swikert, Sept. 19, 1915 - Feb. 15, 1999
LEBANON - Lewis M. Swikert, 83, of Lebanon died Monday at Quail Run Assisted
Living Center in Albany.
He was born in Lookingglass, to Jacob and Bertha (Blake) Swikert, and grew up
in Washougal and Camas, Wash. He married Hazel Bassett Oct. 28, 1939, in
Camas, and they moved to Lebanon in 1947. Hazel died in 1997, and Mr. Swikert
moved to Quail Run.
Mr. Swikert worked for Crown Zellerbach in Lebanon before retiring in 1975. He
was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God.
Surviving are son Melvin of Roseburg; daughter Mary Hannon of Sebastopo
Calif. sister Edna Hert of Longview, Wash.; half-brother Ronald Cory of
Granite Falls, Wash.; and four granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Firday at the Lebanon First Assembly of
God, with Pastor Garland Rogers officiating. A private, family graveside
service will be at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
