Funeral services were held Dec. 20 in Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Carlysle C. Crank. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Bass was born Feb. 7, 1899 in Browntown, daughter of Milton and Mamie Thornton Manuel. Her husband was Foster G. Bass Sr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ballston, Va. Surviving are one son, Foster G. Bass Jr. of Arlington; two daughters, Dorothy Leeland of Arlington and Evelyn Marr of Burlington, N.C.; one brother, Herbert Manuel of Front Royal; one sister, Bessie Smith of Front Royal; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Maurice Manuel, Hollis Manuel, Robert Martin Allan Thomas, Cecil McCoy, and Jim Bowman. Honorary pallbearers were Winfield Causey and Robert Kieger. Memorial contributions can be made to the Browntown Baptist Church.
