Earl Harvey Bassett
MOORE - Earl Harvey Bassett, 89, died near Moore on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007.
He was born July 23, 1917, to Frank Harvey and Lena (Luebke) Bassett. In 1941,
he was drafted into the Army, the 163rd Infantry, and served in New Guinea. He
married Viola Melz on Nov. 29, 1944, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lewiston.
Earl's favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, family time with his wife and
daughters and playing cards with friends and family. He truly enjoyed t
thrill of the hunt and the companionship of good friends in camp. In 2004,
Earl and Vi moved to a condo at Fountain Terrace in Lewistown. A year later,
they moved to D&J Country Living in Moore. Thanks to Joanne and Don Nelson,
Larry, Heather and Roxie and all the other care-givers for their loving care of
our father. Survivors include his wife, Viola Bassett; four daughters, Twila
(Ray) Hildebrandt, Vicki (Eric) Olsen) Bassett, Joy (Gene) Culver and Darlene
(Jim) Ring; and 11 grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by one brother,
Dale (Bess) Bassett of Illinois; three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, all
of Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by
his parents and one brother, Ray. Creel Funeral Home is assisting the family
with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at
Creel's Funeral Home, 601 W. Main St., Lewistown. After the service, join us
for lunch and enjoy a brief DVD of photos of Dad's life in the Fountain
Terrace Hospitality Room (formerly St. Joseph's Hospital), 1000 Fountain
Terrace Drive, Lewistown.

Earl Harvey Bassett
LEWISTOWN - Army veteran Earl Harvey Bassett, 89, who with his wife ranched
for 60 years in western Petroleum County and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing
cards and spending time with his wife and daughters, died of natural causes
Wednesday at D&J Country Living near Moore. A memorial service will be held
later this year. Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge of
arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Viola Bassett; daughters
Twila Hildebrandt of Bonduel, Wis., Vicki Bassett of Juneau, Alaska, Joy
Culver of Billings and Darlene Ring of Blodgett, Ore.; a brother, Dale Bassett
of Illinois; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stillborn
child.
