Mrs. Bassett, a native of Rescue, was the widow of James H. Bassett. She was a member of Tidewater Central Club of the Nazarene. Survivors include a daughter, Doris D. Bates of Virginia Beach; two grandchilren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville, by the Rev. Fred W. Bates IV. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Gideons.
