Urbain R. Bessette
Urbain R. "Lefty" Bessette, 63, of 983 Rodman St., an employee of the Haskon Corp., Taunton, for 23 years before retiring in 1987, died Tuesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Jean (Behagg) Bessette.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Demkorvitz) Bessette.
Mr. Bessette had also formerly worked for the Precision Thread Co. and the Firestone Co. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a well-known CYO baseball player many years ago.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, David R. Bessette of Fall River; a daughter, Cynthia Martyszyn of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Rita Ellis of Fort Pierce, Fla., and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., with a funeral Mass at 10 at St. Anne's Church, South Main Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
