Bessette, 79, of 45 Mawney St., co-owner with his wife of several restaurants in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for 26 years before retiring in 1973, died Friday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sadie V. (Skaradoski) Bessette. Born in Granby, Canada, a son of the late Henry and Georgianna (LeSage) Bessette, he lived in East Greenwich for eight months. He previously lived in Fitchburg, Mass., and Berlin, N.H. Mr. Bessette was a member of the Berlin Lions Club, and was a past president of the Groveton, N.H., Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Bricklayers & Masons Union. He leaves two daughters, Arlene B. Dunn of Brielle, N.J., Anita B. Trainor of East Greenwich, and nine grandchildren. He was brother of the late Ernest, Leo Bessette, and Alice B. Steninger. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fitchburg.
