Eugene Harrison Bassett (Picture included)
Bassett, Eugene H. of Bloomington, passed away on January 1, 2013 in Eden Prairie. Gene was born in Fond du Lac, WI to Wayne R. and Elizabeth C. Bassett on November 9th, 1948. After growing up in Worthington MN, Gene moved to Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn HS in 1966. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota. Gene was an independent Real Estate Broker running Gene Bassett Realty for 35 years. He was involved in local politics for the DFL party being a precinct chair and state senate candidate. He was an outstanding coach for youth sports and provided support and encouragement for countless young men & women. He maintained a seat on the MAAR Board of Real Estate Professional Standards committee for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elizabeth Bassett and his brothers, Wayne and Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam; his sons, Geno and Shawn (Kana); grandchildren, Pieter and Mika; sisters, Judey, Roxanne, and Connie; in-laws, Robert & Freda Janssen, Don & Nancy Wagner, Bob Janssen Jr, & Jan Janssen, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 11 AM Saturday, January 5th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. S., Mpls. with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Struthers Parkinson's Center.
