Roy A. Bassett
BASSETT, ROY A., 72, a life long resident of E. Greenwich passed away Tuesday at home. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Diane E. (Miller) Bassett.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Roy A. and Florence (Gilbert) Bassett.
He was a retired Fire Fighter from the Newport Naval Base and also retired from the E. Greenwich Public Works Department and was a life member of the East Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department and a US Army veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Lu Ann Demers, Linda J. Butts and Heidi L. Olson and her husband Matthew; five grandchildren: Thomas and Pamela Butts, Heather and James Demers and John Olson; four great grandchildren; two brothers: Herbert and Wilfred Bassett and was a brother of the late Richard Bassett.
Funeral service Friday at 10:00am in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., E. Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Thursday, 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Care New England.
