Richard F. Bassett
Richard F. Bassett, 58, of 23 Tobin St., an orthopedic technician for the Orthopedic Association of Hartford, Conn., for 11 years before retiring in 1984, died yesterday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Roy A. Bassett Sr. and Florence E. (Gilbert) Bassett, he lived in West Warwick for a year, having previously lived in Newington, Conn.
Mr. Bassett was an Air Force veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
He was a past member of the Elks of Meridan, Conn., the B.A.S.S. Masters Association in Connecticut, the Harwington Rod & Gun Club, Harwington, Conn., and a past volunteer for the Cancer Society in Newington and West Hartford, Conn.
He leaves a son, Paul R. Bassett of West Warwick; three daughters, Brenda Griffin of Coventry, Gail Guerreiro, with whom he lived, and Jessica Bassett of Newington, Conn.; three brothers, Roy Bassett of East Greenwich, Herbert Bassett of North Kingstown and Wilfred Bassett of Las Vegas, Nev.; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Church, Highland Street. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
