Leon J. Bessette
Leon J. Bessette, 62, of 9452 Horseshoe Island Road, Clay, died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Mr. Bessette resided in Liverpool several years before moving to Clay five years ago.
Mr. Bessette was a truck driver for many years for Lyon Transportation Lines. He also operated Lee's Towing Service in Clay.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Mattydale VFW Post and Baldwinsville Moose Lodge 644.
Surviving are his wife, Ada Unger Bessette; three daughters, Juanita Grahl of Baltimore, Md., Ginger L. Barnes and Elaina Marie Bessette, both of Clay; two sons, Gary S. of Fayetteville and Steven J. of Liverpool; three sisters, Helen Charbarneau of Winooski, Vt., Lucille Maynard of Burlington, Vt., Joan Pond of Clamont, N.H.; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at a time to be announced at Maurer Funeral Home, Liverpool, and at St. Joseph of the Worker Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
