Josephine Bassett, 20-year resident, dies on Monday
Josephine Goodsell Bassett of Goodsell Place, Highland Falls, a 20-year resident and retired employee of the Audiology Department of the New York Eye and Ear Hospital in New York City, died Monday, Aug. 27, in Ramapo Nursing Home, Suffern, after a short illness. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Nelson A. and Florence Gammage Goodsell, she was born Jan. 15, 1907, in New York City. She was the widow of Jordan R. Bassett. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the West Point Officers' Wives Club and the West Point Tuesday Night Bridge Club.
Survivors include three step-daughters: Jeanne B. Tompkins of Suffern; Carol Plummer of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Geraldine Bell of Atlanta, Ga., two stepsons: Paul R. Bassett of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Roger Bassett of Blauvelt; several stepgrandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the William F. Hogan Funeral Home. The Rev. Madeline L. McDonald officiated.
Burial was in Peacedale Cemetery, Highland Falls.
