  Notes	Marlborough Express, 26 November 1920 Woman Commits Suicide CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 26 When Mr. S.K. Bassett, of Richmond Hill, Sumner, arrived home from the city on Tuesday he found his wife lying dead in a wash-house with a pillow under her head. Gas was escaping from a tube near the deceased's face. Mrs. Bassett, who was 44 years old, had apparently lain down after turning the gas on. A doctor who was summoned stated that she had been dead for some hours. At the inquest a verdict was returned to the effect that death was due to gas-poisoning, self-administered while the deceased was in a state of despondency.
