Mrs. W. E. Bass
Mrs. Sarah E. Bass, wife of our townsman, W.E. Bass, died at her home on last Saturday morning after an extended illness of cancer of the stomach.
Mrs. Bass was born in Ontario, Canada, February 18th, 1848 and came to Custer county, locating at Callaway in 1882. About six years ago she came to this city with her family and has since resided here. Mrs. Bass has been ailing for three years, but the disease which carried her away did not assume serious proportions until about eight weeks ago, at which time she was first confined to bed. Everything was done for her that medical skill could do, but the disease was too deeply seated and she passed away on last Saturday morning. They sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
