In Memory of Shirley J. Bessette

Shirley Jean Bessette, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015. She is now at peace and is happily reunited with her husband, Donald "Don" Bessette.
She was born on May 26, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan, to Bernard and Marjorie (Fifer) Cole. She lived in the Lansing area for many years, graduating from high school, marrying her high school sweetheart Don Bessette, and raising her family. Following her husband's retirement from GM, the two spent summers in Gladwin, Michigan and winters in Florida. She enjoyed watching game shows on television and catching up with friends over the phone. Shirley was a pen pal to many, keeping in touch through cards for every occasion and handwritten letters.
She was in preceded in death by her dear husband, Don Bessette, her parents, Bernard and Marjorie Cole, and her brothers, Basil (Nancy) Cole and Douglas Cole.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Jean (Steven) Edson, Julie Ann Bessette, Bonnie Lou Bessette, and Connie Sue (Al) Garn; her grandsons, Joshua David and Tyler Steven Edson; her sisters, Janet (Ivan) Harris and Patricia (Donald) Hiatt; and her beloved dog, Molly.
In accordance with her wishes, so services will be held.
In honor of Shirley, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
